Day 29: Favorite Game Plot

Tales of Symphonia has a much more defined plot that tales of the abyss. You have a pretty clear idea of what you’re supposed to be doing at any point in the game, whereas in TotA you are left wondering about where to head to next at some points. Both of the games have pretty strong religious/political undertones but I felt like ToS defined the problems more than TotA.

Day 28: Favorite Tales Outfit

I really love Tear’s overall design. She isn’t overly sexualized and the only real part of her body you see is her shoulders but she still has a subtle bit of edge to her. I love her little metal garter belt clip things that you only see when she is running, the way her boots are shaped like high heels and the emphasis of sharp angles and clean lines on her outfit.

Day 25: Your Favorite Tales Weapon

The Devil’s Arms

I like the Devil’s arms because they actually have a story and a whole side quest devoted to them. Unlike most of the other weapons in the game, you have to do a lot of shit to unlock them as well as the hardest boss in the entire game.

Day 20: Your Favorite Piece of Game Play Music

I’m not nearly as familiar with TotA music compared to ToS music so this answer may be slightly biased. TotA has some good music in it too though.

Day18: The Saddest Scene

The death of any tales character is pretty upsetting but of course Zelos’ death pulls at my heart strings because he is one of my favorite characters. In the end he helps you and tells you were Collete is and you see a true level of his depression and desire to help/save his sister.

I also had a hard time with Asch’s death in Abyss because I had grown to like him. He sacrificed himself for luke and destroys all in his path before perishing. The added effect of Luke going back to get his body at the tend of the game was also very touching. (this scene was also an anime cutscene in the game so I think that helped in pulverizing my emotions)

I just get sad when the gingers die, I suppose.

Day 17: The Funniest Scene

The funniest scene that springs to mind when I think of Tales is the trip the gang on symphonia take the hot spring. Lloyd gets mistaken for a pervert and there are some funny titles that come out of it. Colette gets “Ironing Board” in relation to her flat chest, Sheena gets the “WOW” title cuz of her hot bod and Lloyd gets “Peeping Tom”.  And I love how when Lloyd is getting scolded by Sheena for being a pervert (her wearing only her towel), Zelos is in the background freaking out with little hearts over his head.

Day 16: Your Favorite Scene

::SPOILER ALERT::

At the end of TotA you think that Luke died saving everyone but on the anniversary of his death it goes to a scene of Tear and the gang looking out over the flower meadow where they first met. They start to leave but Tear stops and turns to see a figure approaching from the far end of the field. It’s Luke and he is reunited with his friends.

This scene just ties the whole game together and gives it a happy ending.
